A+ Certification
  • The CompTIA A+ certification demonstrates competency as a computer technician.
  • It is a vendor neutral certification that covers numerous technologies and operating systems from such vendors as Microsoft, Apple, and some Linux distributions.
  • Certification requires passing both the A+ Core Hardware Exam and the A+ Core Operating System Technologies Exam.
i-Net+ Certification
  • The i-Net+ certification was retired on December 31, 2007; however, those with the i-Net+ certification remain certified.
  • It focused on basic knowledge of Internet, intranet, extranet, and electronic commerce technologies.
  • Topics on the single exam included distinguishing between server-side and client-side scripting, basic networking via command line, e-commerce, and e-business, security via digital signatures, copyright licenses (including the GPL), and basic HTML coding.
Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet (MCP+I)
  • Microsoft Certified Professionals with a specialty in the Internet are required to pass three exams that provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise.
  • Indicates qualification to plan security, install and configure server products, manage server resources, extend servers to run CGI scripts or ISAPI scripts, monitor and analyze performance, and troubleshoot problems.
  • As of September 2012, this certaification was given Legacy status and is no longer available; however, it still appears on certification transcripts.
Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)
  • The MCSE certifies competency in designing, implementing, and administering infrastructures for business solutions based on Microsoft Windows server platforms, including installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems.
  • MCSE certification also covers Active Directory, I.T. organization and management, security, interoperability of systems and software, and strategically planning network enhancements.
  • As of September 2012, this certaification was given Legacy status and is no longer available; however, it still appears on certification transcripts.
