Blog Updates

Sorry for no new posts yesterday. I did work on the blog, but all behind-the-scenes stuff to make the site work a bit better and also to make it easier for people to subscribe to it.

Thanks to the people who have suggested ways to improve it and other services that tie in with it. I appreciate the feedback.

Gravatar_NotFound Image Collection

Introduction

Quoting from Gravatar’s website:

A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an 80×80 pixel avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on weblogs?

BlueI use WordPress for my blog, and I [previously used] use the Gravatar2 plugin to display the Gravatars of people who leave comments in the blog. When Gravatar2 cannot find a Gravatar for a commenter, it displays a generic default Gravatar icon in place of a real Gravatar. [WordPress 2.5 includes an option to display an "Identicon" automatically generated based on the commenter's e-mail It works more reliably and, I think, looks better than the plugin I used to use. These icons may still be useful for you, though I'm not sure if the plugin is available or maintained any more.]

I like to encourage everyone to register a Gravatar, so I created a collection icons that all bloggers may use as generic Gravatar icons on their blogs.

Pick one, pick several that match or contrast with your blog’s theme, go wild and use them all, or create your own using the Photoshop file included with the full collection or available separately.
