Discover Magazine has an article that is really mind-blowing. While reading it, I think several Keanu Reeves-esque “Whoa!”s escaped my lips. The article, “Newsflash: Time May Not Exist” scratches the surface on the interesting concept that time may be an illusion, or rather, it’s an effect, not a cause.
I especially liked the illustration of time being like the surface of water. At an atomic level, there really isn’t a “surface”, and at a sub-Planck level, there really isn’t any “time”. It’s only something that can be observed from a larger, or “macroscopic” scale. Oh, just go read the article; it explains things much better than I can. And let me know if your own mind was blown away, too!
